Henningson created the now-iconic PH 5 out of his (and his mother’s!) dislike of the harsh, unflattering lightbulbs of the time. He meticulously designed the 5 shades that make up the pendant in order for them to work together to diffuse and cast light evenly, making for a pleasant, glare-free ambience.
