Michele de Lucchi (Born 8 November 1951, Ferrara, Italy) is an Italian architect and designer. He is famous for designing the Tolomeo lamp, the
world’s best-selling lamp produced by the company Artemide in 1987. De Lucchi graduated with a degree in architecture at Università degli Studi di
Firenze (Florence University). De Lucchi was a prominent figure during the period of radical and experimental architecture movements.
De Lucchi was a co-founder of the Memphis Group- the group of young architects and designers led by Ettore Sottsass with whom he collaborated from 1981 until 1987. De Lucchi has designed products and furniture fo the most well-known Italian and European companies, such as Artemide, Alias, Unifor, Hermès, Vitra, Poltrona Frau and Alessi. De Lucchi has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d’Oro in 1989, 1991 and 1994.
