On Thursday 8th June, minima. had the pleasure of hosting Design Council‘s panel of inspirational creatives as part of Birmingham Design Festival 2023.
Design Council’s Chief Design Officer Cat Drew held a Q&A with Venessa Scott (Public Artist), Jane Anderson (BCU Lecturer & Illustrator), and Phil Garnham (Monotype UK) to address issues putting the future of UK design industry at risk.
Seven out of ten of the UK’s 1.97m designers have a design GCSE,
but the number of young people taking the subject has dropped by 68% over the last decade.
Our speakers inspired the audience with their varied creative backgrounds and insights to take on the fulfilling career in the arts, despite the incorrect societal stigma that a future in art and design is unstable.
